Tasks The Data Processing Engineer shall support the Sentinel-3 Operations with respect to EUMETSAT's Marine Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS) maintenance (in particular anomaly correction and software release processes) in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level-2. The Key Person shall also be responsible for the coordination of the evolutions of these systems.The Key Person's duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance (currently in the launch preparation phase), the analysis and testing of the facilities (including the handling of anomalies), and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Key Person shall be the focal point for integrating the individual software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the end-to-end testing of the complete production system.The Key Person's duties will also cover the setting-up and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the co-ordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel-3.In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on-call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers. Profile Mandatory:• A university degree in a relevant field• At least 3 years’ experience in the maintenance and engineering of large scale software systems, specifically mission/instrument data processing related;• Knowledge of software development lifecycles and demonstrable experience;• Competence in software testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation;• Experience in software debugging and profiling;• Experience of source code control systems (preferably Subversion).Desirable:• Experience with DFEP processors (as used by S-3) and LO processing within a framework based solution (PDGS for S-3);• Knowledge of the ESA generic Instrument Processing Facility (IPF) interface specification;• Networking technologies and tools (e.g. CCSDS protocols, Space Data Link protocols, FTP, PGM, TCP/IP, UDP multicasting, and tools such as Wireshark);• C/C++/Java programming language experience in a UNIX/Linux based environment;• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl);• Knowledge of web technologies, programming and mark-up languages (e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML and related technologies (XPATH, SVG, etc.)).
